v involved

v is an independent charity, launched in May 2006, to champion youth volunteering in England with an overall mission of inspiring a million more young volunteers. The charity was created as a direct result of the Russell Commission and is supported by the Government. The key objective of v is to create a significant and lasting change in the quality, quantity and diversity of youth volunteering opportunities building on the existing excellent work already in place in  the youth volunteering sector (e.g. MV).v strives to bring together all youth volunteering opportunities. v funds the creation of volunteering opportunities through grants and its “Match Fund” programme. Through this investment v is working towards the vision: more quality, more choice, and more diversity in youth volunteering in England. v also provides opportunities for the volunteers to get involved in other activities such as Youth Action Teams, social events, fundraising, residential trips and consultation events.v and WAYC The vinvolved team at WAYC has been commissioned by v and has three main areas of focus:
  1. Recruiting, supporting, promoting and celebrating volunteering across Warwickshire and Solihull.
  2. Providing safe and quality placement opportunities.
  3. Recruiting and supporting placement providers.

The vinvolved team delivers the 3 main areas outlined above as well as brokering young people into volunteering placements as well as offering a number of Direct Delivery projects. These projects can come from either young persons idea or from projects identified in the specified application working with targeted groups of young people. These groups are identified by the workers such as including those who traditionally are less likely to volunteer including those not in employment or with a disability.
