The Department of Health is rolling out an interactive online quiz today, enabling health professionals to help teenagers improve their health and wellbeing.
The quiz, NHS Teen Lifecheck, is currently used in 83 local areas and will be rolled out nationally from 10 June. Using multiple choice questions, it will offer health and lifestyle information to 12- to 15-year-olds.
The quiz is confidential, and at the end of the questions it provides users with tailored advice on how they can make positive improvements to their lifestyles.
The online self-assessment tool was developed with a range of health professionals and tested by young people. It explores areas such as physical activity, nutrition, solvents and illegal drugs, alcohol, smoking, sexual and emotional health.
Gillian Merron, Public Health Minister, said: "Teenage years can be a difficult enough time without having to worry about your health. NHS Teen LifeCheck is a quick and easy way of checking your health which gives simple advice on how to be healthier. We've worked with young people to develop an effective and accessible service which is completely confidential."
